Fishing Guide Service

Experience

We're a small group of dedicated full time Captains whose focus is on "sight fishing" and "poling" the flats and backcountry of the Florida Keys, Marquesas and Everglades for tarpon, bonefish, permit, snook and redfish. If you are interested in having a great time fishing with guides that are "mobile" and capable of guiding you to fish just about anywhere in the Keys and Everglades then you have come to the right place. Aside from guiding our own trips over the years, collectively all of us have logged thousands of hours aboard the mothership "Fishabout" in numerous adventures from the Everglades to the Marquesas.

Flexibility

Novice to expert, families and kids, groups, corporate, or solo, we can match you with the fishing guide that suits your fishing style and requirements. All of us share the desire to work hard for our anglers and we love to get away to the more remote and less traveled areas. When we're not guiding, more times than not you'll find us (or maybe not) exploring the far corners of the everglades doing what we love to do… fishing.

Diversity

All of us have our “niche” in regard to our methods of fishing and the target species that we specialize in stalking… from fly fishing, light tackle, extreme backcountry or just good old family fun. Our destinations range from inland lakes and canals for peacock bass to the entire span of the Everglades, no-motor zones, Florida Keys and Marquesas. Some of us have two different skiffs… some of us, three... necessary tools of the trade to enable us to guide in all the diverse fishing locations existing in South Florida.

A note about Florida Keys fishing guides

Now and then...

Most of the Florida Keys fishing guides are hard working professional Captains who use top quality fishing gear and utilize the latest technology in flats skiffs. Our fishing "season" is perpetual - 12 months a year and most of the fishing guides are full time.

Once upon a time it was believed that a number of the "legendary" Florida Keys fishing guides were temperamental bullies. However back in those days - a long time ago, they were the only game in town, a unique breed of cat. Those guides are now legends, pioneers and were no doubt innovators in the practice of light tackle and saltwater fly fishing... they set the tone for years to come.

Thankfully, numerous fishing spots still maintain the same traditions and etiquette that was established by these men, something seldom seen in the at times ill-mannered "free for all" world of fishing that exists in lots of destinations nowadays. Knots, leaders, flies, lakes, bays, creeks and fishing spots still bear their names.

Over the years as fishing's popularity and competition has increased so has the "temperament" of most Florida Keys fishing guides. Knowledgeable, personable fishing guides with a passion for their profession and a superior work ethic are not the exception.

I have visited some Captains websites recently whose theme is that they don't "scream or yell" at their anglers... they also claim that they work hard and have lots of experience as if most of the Keys fishing guides are guilty on both counts. As in any other profession there are always a few bad apples... but at the risk of promoting my competition, I am compelled to say that the greater part of the older, present and up-and-coming generation of Florida Keys fishing guides are extremely hard working, professional, good-natured and perhaps the best equipped saltwater guides on this big blue planet.
